Comparison App

CREATED A PHONE PLAN COMPARISON APP EXPERIENCE BASED ON USER RESEARCH & TESTING

OVERVIEW

For my ART 271 course, I constructed a utility-based mobile app experience for Android OS. The app concept I developed was a phone plan comparison tool that can be used in different countries. The aim of this app is to simplify the process of finding the best phone plan into a few quick and easy steps.

After defining the app idea, I developed an online survey through Qualtrics to understand the user's process of selecting a phone plan. My aim was to discover the user's needs in order to define the design requirements of the app. Based on the data collected through the online survey, I created a customer journey map that details the user's experience of purchasing a phone plan with and without the app.

Furthermore, I created three personas to represent the different types of users of the app. After determining the design requirements, I developed a product persona to represent the value and purpose of the app.

Next, I started creating the app prototype by sketching wireframes on paper and then developing the high-fidelity screens on Adobe XD. After creating the live prototype, I tested the prototype by conducting a usability testing session via Zoom, and through an online survey. After gaining feedback from the testing session, I redesigned the prototype.

I then documented the user flows in InDesign by mapping out the screens of my app prototype. The various gestures that would be used within the app are indicated as well. The final document presents the app identity, results from user research, prototype and wireframes, and app screens.

Through this project I was able to practice conducting user research and testing, as well as gain new skills using Adobe Creative Suite apps like Illustrator, and InDesign.
